The Local Mean Decomposition Method.
The
Local Mean Decomposition (LMD) method decomposes complicated
multicomponent signals into their component parts. Each of the derived
components is the product of an envelope signal, and a purely frequency
modulated (fm) signal. The derived components are called Product
Functions (PFs). Instantaneous phase and frequency values are
calculated from
the fm signal. The PFs are derived
iteratively. Each PF has a lower average frequency than the previously
derived PF in the PF series.
